Innovating at the Intersection of Business & Technology

I’m Edison ISHIMWE, a final-year Business Information Technology student at the University of Kigali, with a growing professional background in software development, data analytics, IT, and business operations.

My experience has taken me through different areas of technology and business. I currently work as a Software Engineer & Communications Director at Born2Serve, where I work on web applications and server-side systems. I’ve also worked in IT administration and operations, and have mentored students through technology and STEM projects.

Alongside my degree, I’ve developed my interest in data analytics through IBM’s Introduction to Data Analytics and Coursera’s Excel Essentials for Data Analytics. My academic work has also given me a foundation in database management, system analysis, IT troubleshooting, network security, and strategic management.

I’m interested in the practical side of technology, building useful solutions, working with data, improving processes, and finding better ways to solve problems. I’m currently focused on growing further in software development, data analytics, Business Intelligence, and emerging technologies.

I expect to graduate with a BSc in Business Information Technology in November 2026. My background brings together technology, data, and business, with a particular interest in building practical solutions to real-world problems.

I also enjoy sharing what I learn. As a Trainer & Judge with Coderina EdTech, I mentored students in technology and STEM projects and evaluated their ideas based on feasibility, scalability, and potential. These experiences have strengthened not only my technical skills, but also my ability to communicate ideas, work with people, and approach problems from both technical and business perspectives.

My technical interests include software development, data analytics, Business Intelligence, IT systems, and emerging technologies. I have worked with technologies and tools including React/Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Microsoft Fabric, Excel, Google Looker Studio, and ETL fundamentals. My interest in analytics is also supported by certifications in Introduction to Data Analytics from IBM and Excel Essentials for Data Analytics from Coursera.

What interests me most is the practical side of technology: understanding a problem, finding a better way to solve it, and building something useful from that idea. I’m continuing to develop my skills in software development, data analytics, Business Intelligence, Big Data, and AI, while looking for opportunities where technology can contribute to better decisions, more efficient processes, and meaningful solutions.

Outside of my own projects and professional work, I enjoy exploring new technologies, learning, researching, and mentoring students through technology and STEM activities.
